This album took shape between May/ June to November 2025 as a quiet offshoot from other ongoing projects. The material emerged through repeated takes, experimentation altered tunings, and extended late-night sessions where tone, mood, and pacing were prioritized over jazz intricacies, theory, or formal structure.
The name Orpheus Moon draws from myth as well as astrology, including the asteroid 3361 Orpheus, which also made a close pass around very recently. Certain tracks draw from personal experiences during retrograde seasons, while others echo specific moments in the sky, from Venus nearing the final degree of Pisces to slower-moving conjunctions such as the ongoing Neptune-Saturn alignment, associated dissolution, boundaries, and return.
These pieces function as sketches and studies rather than fixed statements, shaped through listening and revision over time. The music remains open-ended, inviting interpretation out insisting on explanation.
